About the Gallery

Banyan Gallery, a nonprofit gallery operated by the Old Town Business and Art Development Association, provides quality artwork at reasonable prices in a real gallery atmosphere of warmth and humane beauty.

In Asia, banyan trees, which live thousands of years, propagate through their traveling roots. The roots, which drop from limbs to the earth and return toward the sky, have become holy in Asian cultures, symbolizing regeneration and the creative spirit.

Merchants, holy men, and entire communities congregate under the enormous, sheltering canopy of the banyan, which provided both nurture and the spreading of the creative spirit of art.

"The Banyan Gallery is a continuation of the Old Town Business and Art Development Association's goals of promoting Michigan artists and providing quality arts programming for the community."
—Terry Terry, President, Old Town Business and Art Development Association (OTBADA)
