5 out of 5 stars faster than microsoft office word   June 2, 2008

After struggling with Microsoft Word 2007, I immediately ordered Microsoft Works 9.0 simply because it is easy to handle and I love some of the updates that has been added. I love the way it saves your letters and documents. It has a lot of other great features as well. You can make your own personal stationary, all occasion cards, budgets, and personal business forms etc. I especially love the history tab which helps me to find all of my letter/documents or anything else that I might have saved. It is easy to change letter size, and style or to print letters in different color ink.

When I bought a new computer it came with microsoft office word 2007. It was too complicated when you just want a simply letter or want to add headers and footers to your letter. I will have to take a class or take some time to learn microsoft word 2007. That is what I love about Microsoft Works 9.0 it is very easy to manuver without a lot of reading and studying. For me, it is self explanatory. Although, almost every company and most of my teachers wants me to use microsoft office word 2007, I generally get permission to use Microsoft Works 9.0 because Microsoft Word 2007 is too time consuming if you don't know how to use it or you don't have the time to learn it -- it becomes a waste of time.

Yes, I would highly recommend Microsoft Works 9.0 because it is a great product.

5 out of 5 stars Senior Citizen Tackles Works 9   April 21, 2008

This 62 year old gal stepped out of her comfort zone and into Microsoft Works 9.....It's a pussycat and I have her purring like a kitten. In no time, I whipped out a database for the church and a Honey Do list for Pappy.

And all 500 recipes are now easy to find and to hand out to friends. My next adventure will be the Christmas Card List.

Yup, Works 9 and me are getting on just fine. Thanks Microsoft....

Wanna' learn accounting, bookkeeping, keep all of your "stuff" in an organized data base, are you a writer, want to tell us all about your life, or write about events, history, how's about calendars, greeting cards, or perhaps put together an auction in minutes, using graphics, pictures from file, with every color available in the RAINBOW, and FONTS GALORE......then, you should hook yourself onto WORKS (by MICROSOFT) v. 9.0. It's doable, inexpensive, does everything that a child, teenager, or adult might need when the time is right to GET IT ALL DOWN, spell check, grammar, add those IMPACT GRAPHICS..........print, and PUBLISH! IT "WORKS" - believe me IT "WORKS" (by Microsoft) v. 9.0. Thank you for this opportunity to comment.

5 out of 5 stars The Works   June 6, 2008

I am a Third Grade teacher, and I love the Microsoft Works templates, and calendar. Recently I also published a class book with Student Treasures, and the cells were excellent to create science biweely measurement of native Hawaiian plants that improve the oxygen in the water of an anchialine pond and make the muck go down. What makes this product 5 stars, is that once you create the table, you can pick bar graph and /or line graph, edit within the table to revise info and produce high quality information in a varity of formats. You are also able to add to lables and mark specific necessary info, once again edit revise as necessary. Many more templates still to be discovered in the near future...

5 out of 5 stars Works 9.0 - a good choice for the home user   June 26, 2009

I bought MS Works 9.0 to replace the 60 day trial version of MS Office 2009 that came installed on my new computer. I have nothing against MS Office, but I think that $195 for the license is a bit steep for a retired person or even the average home user. Works has the same basic programs that come with Office. You can use the word processor to create letters, resumes and other written documents. Use its data base to create household inventory records, recipes and lists of collectibles. The spread sheet is an excellent tool to track a budget or any other document requiring mathematical calculations. It even has a calendar to keep track of your appointments, birthdays, anniversaries, etc., and it can remind you when such events are about to occur. Compare Works with Office, and the learning curve is much shorter with Works. I've used both before I retired, and the documents I created in Office were readable by Works, and vice versa. A very good buy.
